Kitchen Artwork round 2

After having completed the first piece of artwork for our kitchen. The request was made for another set. The second set is finished and hanging up in our kitchen now. I used a few of the same elements that were used in the first one, but over all they stuck with the garden theme.

And here is where both sets of artwork hang.

Kitchen Artwork finished!

Last week I finished up the artwork for our kitchen. Now there's been a request for more for over the door in the kitchen, not just 1 piece but 3 (I'm starting to think I created a monster). I also have another dog dish mat in the works as well as a couple of dish drainer mats.

So now work begins on the new pieces for the kitchen. It'll be a good distraction for a lot of the things that are going on around here (more on that later).

Above the kitchen window is a small gap where the paneling didn't meet flush when we were putting the kitchen back together during the remodel. Any other person wouldn't have noticed it. But it's been driving my father nuts so he put in a request for some sort of artwork a few months back (which is ironic because he's never been a huge fan of my artwork if you remember).

So after showing my parents the artwork that I had just finished for our bathroom (which my dad liked..go figure). I was struck with a bit of inspiration this morning. Good thing I had to make a trip to my local small town scrapbook store to pick up my order from the first trip.

I really do enjoy going to that place. Not only are the papers that they offer beautiful, but the employees are so nice. And all the little completed projects that they have displayed are such inspirations and really get the creative juices flowing.

I picked up some chipboard letters and chipboard sheets. A really pretty piece of scrapbook paper that will be the perfect background. I also snagged some very pretty paper flowers. As well as a package of large metal keys and gemstone embellishments for other projects. I really could spend all day there just browsing and creating!

And since I wasn't happy with the way the photos of my bathroom artwork came out, I took some new pictures and tweaked them a bit more in my photo editing programs on the computer. I am much happier with this round of photos. These pictures are a lot closer to what they look like in real life.

2 finished pieces!

Today the sun is shining and it's slowly warming up. I finished up my faery this morning and snapped pictures of both her and another mixed media piece I had finished a bit ago. And since I had to clean off my craft table in order to take pictures, it's the cleanest it's been in months lol. I can't wait to start work on another piece that I have kicking around in my head. But that will have to wait until after taking the dogs for a walk and doing some laundry. Both are going to be available through my Etsy. But in the mean time on to the pictures!

This is another mixed media piece that I created. It's an 8"x10" watercolor and acrylic paints on hot press watercolor paper.

And because I know you all have been dying to see how the faery turned out...

Here she is!!

She is perched among some oak moss and lavender on her base. I used Angelina film to create her wings and am really thrilled how they turned out as it was my first time working with it. I really couldn't be happier with how she turned out.

WIP ~ Tuesday on Friday

Goodness! I missed WIP Tuesday but with good reasons. This has been such a busy week. And it all started last Friday with my birthday. Tuesday was birthday present arrival day, well the start to it anyway. The portable photo studio hubby had bought me was delivered. I love it! It came with a light tent, 2 lamps and a mini tripod for my camera. And here I was going to make my own and buy some lamps lol. The nice thing about it, everything folds right up and stores in its own little bag. So you can imagine all work was set aside to take pictures, upload pictures, edit pictures, rinse and repeat.
But in the middle of all that, I did get some work done on 2 tutorials for February Fairies Event over at The Whimsical Cottage. I also was able to complete 1 of the WIP from last week. I really excited. It’ll be my first listing on my Etsy shop and hopefully won’t be the last.

What do you think? I’m excited because the photo is pretty true to color in real life. This piece remains untitled at the moment. I’ll have to think of something before I list her.
So what’s on the agenda for this weekend? Putting the final touches on a tutorial and see what I can do about finishing up another WIP from last week. I have some new Caran d’Ache watercolor crayons (also for my birthday) that I am just dying to work with.

Finished angels

With our basement issue solved (thank goodness), I find my creative energies coming back to me. I'm working at giving my blog a bit of personality with a new background and banner to start. I'm pretty proud of both of them really, especially since I'm not an html person. I'll also be switching some columns around eventually. But for now, I think I am pretty pleased with how it looks.

You remember my angels that I created for holiday gifts? Well I wanted to share the final pieces all framed (about time right?)

Both were mounted onto a piece of card stock and I added some ribbon to finish both pieces off a bit. They were a really big hit with both my grandparents and my aunt and uncle. I'm even planning to create one for my husband and myself and perhaps my parents as well.

I also have a few pieces that I created for the Dotee, ATC and 4 inchies swap on Craftster as well that I can't wait to share with you. I think it's safe to say that I have had whimsies on the brain lately :)
