Blessed Samhain and Happy Halloween!

So on the 27th and 28th of Halloween, my little Witchy gave to me...

A monster truck costume and a mohawk!

(I have to admit, I've gotten a bit better at trimming his hair and spiking it)

On the 29th of Halloween, the kiddo had a party at school followed by a parade threw the high school. His costume was a huge hit. His class mates loved it and the high school kids loved it as well.

The 30th of Halloween, was pumpkin carving day!

And that brings us to the 31st of Halloween! The kid and his truck made the rounds around the block and his truck was another huge hit.

(I honestly think he wanted to get the night over with so he could play with it on a regular basis)

The kid is in bed and all is quiet. It is time to light a candle and enjoy a very simple ritual. Time to release the negative, bring in the balance, and set the seeds to find myself once again.

Happy Samhain!

On the 22nd of Halloween, my Witchy gave to me...

An afternoon of Halloween crafting...

 among other things....

I've been busy doing some autumn cleaning in preparation for the winter weather that is slowly creeping up on us. While cleaning, I've been making a mess of my craft space and our family room.
The kid's costume now has wheels. It's to the painting point. I just hope the paint that I'm going to use sticks to the duct tape. If it doesn't, I have a back up plan!

Here's a glimpse of it as it currently sits. I thought about redesigning it a bit, then said heck with it since there's only about a week left before Halloween. As long as it's a truck, the kid will love it.
Oh yes, and thank you truck! I build a deck over the summer with no injuries of any kind, I cut one tire out of cardboard and slice my finger with the box cutter. Luckily, it's superficial. Since the bleeding stopped, it looks more like a large paper cut than anything else. The good news, I'm done cutting and using the hot glue gun :)

I have some other things in the works that are currently drying before I can show them. As well as some swap items.

On the 17th of Halloween, my Witchy gave to me...

A Hayride and pumpkins!

On the way home from getting a few groceries today, we stopped at a local farm to pick up a couple pumpkins on a whim.
Today was the perfect day for a hayride. The kid had a ball. We got to pet some of the little calves and a few of the barn cats. TJ's favorite was a brown and grey striped cat named George.
We also stopped and fed some hay to a few of the big cows. TJ laughed the whole time. I'm sure he made a few friends.

I wish I had brought my camera to take some pictures while we were there, but alas I didn't have it on me (just goes to show I need to start carrying it around on a regular basis).

But we got some really great carving pumpkins.

I'm really glad we didn't pay 9 dollars for a pumpkin at the grocery store. Even though they had some really good looking pumpkins, for the same price we were able to get 3 and a hayride.

Not bad for a whim :)

On the 16th of Halloween, my Witchy gave to me...

A little bit of shopping!

I've been busy finishing up my Samhain swap items and working on the kiddo's costume. Today, the sun was shining and it was a wonderful day to get out of the house. Where did we go?

Why the craft and hardware stores!
I got to browse some of the autumn and Halloween fabrics at JoAnn's (not really impressed. They've had a better selection in the past years).

And a stop at Home Depot for some foam to make roll bars on the kid's costume.
No pictures today, but I promise soon. We're hoping to get to the point of painting the costume, but we'll see how that goes with the kid's help lol.

On the 12th and 13th days of Halloween, my Witchy gave to me...

A start on the kiddo's costume!

Yesterday I was looking through some costume ideas and that's when I saw it. A costume after my kid's own heart. He is big into watching race cars and monster trucks. In fact there's a kid's cartoon about monster trucks that he loves watching and will watch over and over and over again.

So as you can guess, when I saw this on Martha Stewart.com, I just had to show the kid...

What was his reaction? Nothing less than complete excitement! And we just happened to have some extra large cardboard boxes hanging out in the garage waiting to be recycled.

There's not much to look at right yet. Right now it's a few boxes, but the imagination is working over time. I have so many ideas for it. I might just need to take a trip to the hardware store this weekend :)

And what project would be complete with a little extra help? Especially Orion help.

Going...going...

Gone?

Nope! Just inspecting the inside of the truck. Beware of cats who think they are pit crews.
Back to crafting!!

On the 11th day of Halloween my Witchy gave to me...

A beautiful autumn day for an outing with my little guy.

I woke up with the idea to head up the road and surprise my little guy with a hike. So I packed a small day pack with water and a snack, got the kid dressed, grabbed my sister and both the dogs and headed up the road. Where did we hike?

The falls from the foot bridge at the bottom

View from the other side of the falls near the top
Then we came home, and while the dogs and my sister napped, the kiddo and I made ghosts for outside!

We used white trash bags cut into 4s and grocery bags to stuff their heads. There's 8 of them so far. We plan on making a few larger ones to hang in the tree out front.

On the 2nd day of Halloween my Witchy gave to me...

A morning of Vampire Movies!

I can't stand folding laundry. The only way it's tolerable is if I watch a DVD (well in my case VHS since we haven't replaced any of my vampire movies with DVD yet) while doing it. I'm not a big zombie fan, but when it comes to vampires, I get weak in the knees.

So I grabbed a few of my favorite Vampire movies to get me in the mood for Halloween!

My little mini movie marathon this morning includes:

Queen of the Damned (I love the soundtrack)
The Lost Boys ("One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach, all the damn vampires.")
Interview with a Vampire
Vampires

And because I can...
Sleepwalkers

Laundry will definitely be folded by the time I finish one, maybe two of the movies in my little marathon. I can't guarantee much else will be though lol.

On the 1st day of Halloween my Witchy gave to me...

A brand new banner graphic!

Being that yesterday was out of the question for crafting, I've decided to start today with something simple while the house was still asleep.

Danni over at The Whimsical Cottage is throwing a blog party! I've seen blog parties, but haven't ever joined one until now. I thought it'd be a good way to jump in and get the feet wet so to speak. And it'd be something low key for myself since I have a ton of things going on crafting wise.

I am not a graphics designer by far, but I do enjoy playing around with my various graphics programs. I took a black and white graphic that I found online a while back and added some color to it. I might play around with the size of it, but for now I like it.

Happy Crafting!
